J and K’s Midwest Maine Coons is the passion project of Josh and Kara—a husband-and-wife team in central Iowa, at the heart of the Midwest. As hobby farm enthusiasts, we actively embrace simple living, sustainability, and intentionality, using innovation and thoughtful technology to lower our environmental impact.
Our passion for Maine Coons comes from their intelligence, striking beauty, and gentle companionship. As our small cattery grows, we continually focus on responsible breeding practices. We prioritize comprehensive health checks, genetic testing, proper vaccinations, and keep up with advancements in veterinary medicine. Our cats thrive in a clean, loving, and enriched environment, where their health and well-being always come first.
In addition, we both have full-time careers that complement our passion. Kara is a dedicated Nursing Administrator with deep expertise in healthcare leadership, compassionate care, and wellness advocacy. Josh is an experienced Senior Software Engineer and IT leader, recognized for strategic thinking, problem-solving, technical innovation, and sustainable practices. Together, we combine science, research, empathy, and practical knowledge in both our careers and farm life.
